About Me & My Approach

How We Work Together

When we meet, the focus is entirely on getting your life working well again. As a fully qualified Human Givens Therapist, I use a framework built on practical, highly effective psychological tools.

Rather than just talking endlessly about the past, we look at what essential emotional and physical needs are currently unmet in your life, and what is preventing you from fulfilling them. I can help you safely process and overcome trauma, severe anxiety, anger, phobias, and addiction. We do this without relying on heavy clinical jargon. You can just expect straightforward, genuine conversation.

My Background

I didn’t start my career in a therapy room. Before retraining, I spent decades in the tech industry as a software engineer and architect. Contracting across a wide variety of organisations gave me a clear, realistic view of the corporate world.

While this gave me a deep understanding of high-pressure environments, my practice today is for everyone. From university students and creatives to tradespeople and executives, I understand how incredibly difficult it is when you are expected to keep performing while quietly struggling to cope behind the scenes.

My experience also goes beyond the professional world. I have lived a broad, varied, and at times adventurous life. I understand the complexities of raising a family and what it takes to walk a long path of deep personal recovery. I have travelled widely and spent many years engaging with open-minded, diverse communities.

Whatever you bring to the room, my promise is simple: I might not understand everything perfectly at first, but I am always willing to listen, try, and figure it out with you.

Relationships & Identity

Alongside general counselling, I provide a warmly affirmative environment for the LGBTQ+ community and specialise in Gender, Sexual, and Relationship Diversity (GSRD).

Because of my background, I bring a broad, lived understanding to all kinds of relationship dynamics. Whether you are navigating traditional family life, marriage, or alternative structures like long-term ethical non-monogamy (ENM) and polyamory, my practice is a place where you can just come as you are. You will not need to spend half your session educating me on how your life works. We can just focus on you.

Meeting Spaces & Fees

Finding the right environment for therapy is important. I offer quiet, private face-to-face sessions in my Aberystwyth and Bow Street consulting rooms. If you prefer to be moving, I also offer Walk & Talk therapy in the local forests or along the beach. Alternatively, secure video and telephone sessions are available for anyone further afield.

Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £75. Because I believe therapy should be accessible, I hold two trust-based concessionary spaces each week for those who cannot afford the standard fee. I will never ask for proof of income or bank statements. If you need one of these spaces, simply mention it when you get in touch.
